The quick summary: my left foot and part of my leg was numb and found it difficult to walk. I had a lot of difficulties sleeping due to the pain, even with pain killers. The neurologist said that if I didn't get surgery that I would have permanent nerve damage and would require a cane to walk. What it entailed: it was a microdiscectomy. It was outpatient, but required general anesthetic and the surgery took a few hours. I also had to be prepped for surgery. It basically took all day and into the evening. Noelle had to drive me back after due to the general anesthetic. I couldn't work for a couple of weeks and basically moved very little and took pain killers. Overall, next to my vasectomy, probably the best surgical outcomes I've had.
