The thing about the "rich" reminded me about a radio story I heard. I was listening about how much salary certain electronic engineers were making at particular years in time, and they said how much that would have been worth in today's dollars. I did a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation and discovered that, even 'tho I feel like I earn a decent amount of money, I actually earn just 1/3 of what my father did. That blew my mind. Everybody talks about how the middle class is "slipping" and how each generation is doing worse than the previous one, but it feels odd when it hits so close to home.
