There was no decision about election vs. appointment.
Apparently, with appointment, the term is extended by one term, so the
appointee can serve for up to 3 terms total, instead of just 2.
The borer beetle can attack sycamore, live oak, and avocado, among other
tree species. They didn't say anything about citrus, fig, persimmons, or
stone fruit trees, so who knows?
