I was listening to
https://www.democracynow.org/2024/12/25/a_tribute_to_blacklisted_lyricist_yip .
The guy interviewed describes a political view of Wizard of Oz. Pretty
interesting. When I look at
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_interpretations_of_The_Wonderful_Wizard_of_Oz#Monetary_policy,
I never even thought that the Wizard of Oz was using Dorothy to off his
enemy the Wicked Witch of the West. And I never questioned why Glinda
likes the Wizard of Oz so much.
The film https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oz_the_Great_and_Powerful seems to
obfuscate the original political meanings, but it does make clear that the
Wizard of Oz is a huckster and con artist who wants to be ruler.
If the Wizard of Oz represents you-know-who, then, really, the Wicked
Witch of the West is the hero and was unjustly killed by Dorothy. You
could consider Dorothy to be like the FBI destroying enemies on behalf of
the ruling elite.
