"All the encryption in the world doesn't help much if an unfriendly gains
access to one or more of the phones that are receiving (and decoding) the
encrypted messages." Well, this is only one part of the problem. The
other is that people can join chats who are not immediate relevant.
Preventing this would be a big task, but I don't see it being impossible
-- it reduces to a similar problem as blocking spammers.
The real danger here is if this administration succeeds in squelching the
media so much that we never find out about these gaffs. Finding out about
this stuff late could utterly disasterous -- we should thank the media for
being there to report everything, but far too few people thank the media.
