This post from Richardson doesn't seem to have a focused theme or intent.
There are lots of ideas here, but, despite my agreeing with the overall
argument that there are whiffs of white nationalism in MAGA, they don't
seem to tightly bind together.

The story about the painting does seem interesting, 'tho, especially with
reference to James K Polk.
