These are not email bounces.  I believe these are problems with the software 
that sends the portal registration invitation in the first place.
I'm not sure why the software was implemented to validate the recipient's email 
address.  That seems like a flaw.  It should accept any address and let the 
mail system itself determine whether it's a valid email address or not.  (I've 
wrestled with this same problem at my workplace.  I don't understand why data 
input needs to be validated.)
Perhaps this is why you said that you are working with the software vendor to 
remove this limitation and have them update their software.  Sending them my 
email address may be sufficient.
If this doesn't work out, I'll just have to continue to send Better World Club 
paper checks for annual renewals, which isn't a bad workaround.
