I see that phone numbers associated with accounts in Signal are normally
kept hidden.

But, it's possible to share your number in Signal. Also, if you have
discussions outside Signal, all bets are off. I guess it takes a lot of
vigilance to maintain your privacy in Signal.
Perhaps these groups should insist on everybody using only Session or
Simplex or Briar to keep everyone anonymous.
