I had to use ID.me as well to verify my identity to create a ssa.gov
account since I keep my credit reports frozen. I think you're right:
privacy for those of us enrolled in social security may already be dead,
given that that data is likely to already to have been handed over to
god-knows-who, e.g., https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0203313095 .
Many young people have not already been sucked up into any systems, and
that's where this Ca (and, potentially, an equivalent federal) law
could catch the young people as well.
