I don't know which is worst: (1) the fact that Ars Technica used to be the free "open-source" univeristy run by some MIT/Gnu guys. (2) the cheezy "warning" animated gif at the top, pretending to be a system monitor telling you that "your PC may not be optimized" (3) the fact that I'm about to buy a Dell laptop, which is what the University prefers people do. I remember hearing about a case where prisoners were being used for database entry work, based on purchasing patterns from people's credit cards.
