It is very true that when the chickens are let out of their coop, they are not rambunctious, but are typically quiet and graze calmly. They usually make a sound of contentment. Tim is actually in the process of making them a stationary outdoor area that is very safe from predators. We still put them out in the outdoor pen that we move around, but the stationary one will be good because they will be able to move from their coop to the outside on their own. Have you started your garden? I know that you said that there is a water shortage in your area. Have you tried using mulch to keep the moisture in? I've planted some lettuces and peas so far. The lettuce hasn't come up yet, but I've been getting our greens from our neighbor who has a greenhouse. This last time we traded eggs for greens. By the way, I love the idea of chickens in cities. I know that there are people in Burlington, VT who keep chickens and goats, as well. When we were in Germany, it wasn't unusual to see chickens. Talk to you later, Flora -----Original Message-----From: Noelle [http://dummy.us.eu.org/noelleg] Sent: Saturday, May 09, 2009 1:14 AM To: Flora Subject: Silicon Valley Community Newspapers - Willow Glen Resident -
