Big thanks for those who came and spoke at last Thursday's VTA Board meeting.
Has anyone had the chance to look at the VTA's budget proposal? yet One hint given during public comment at last Thursday's Board meeting was that there is a 5% increase in VTA spending for consultants. That will need to be looked at more carefully. It should be suspected that over $5 million VTA expects to make from the fare increase is really going to featherbed consultants salaries.
The BRT Strategic Plan proposal looks promising. The plan (which should be posted here) has true Bus Rapid Transit reserved lanes and special buses for areas like El Camino Real and Stevens Creek Boulevard. It can be argued that it represents what VTA should have done instead of pursuing BART. Big question will be: how will it be paid for when any discretionary money and regional priorities are all going towards bringing BART here?

Interesting idea on announcements aboard VTA buses and light rail regarding responsible use of cell phones. If and when VTA has responded to you, can you post that response here? If not, send a copy of the letter to our post office box and I can do that for you.
There remains a lot for us to do in the days and months ahead. Let us get going.
