I think more experimentation is needed.
It seemed to work on this end, AFAICT, 'tho it's extremely flakey.

Too late. I'll just have to try it when I get there.
We bought a webcam for Chris for his birthday and he seemed to have got it
going (at least, on Windows). So, I'll probably work with him to get it
going before trying with my parents.
