7th Legion
----------
Epic Games[20] makes a video game called 7th Legion[21], whose
premise is that the Earth had succumbed to human overpopulation.
It is interesting that while nobody takes this scenario seriously,
it has enough cultural resonance to anchor a popular video game.
Here is the description of the game, courtesy of the Game
Depot[22]: Centuries of overpopulation and reckless consumption
had brought the Earth's ecosystem to the brink of collapse.
Radical, panic-induced laws restricting reproduction and fuel use
came too late to stem the tide of decay and pollution that was
rapidly drowning the planet. In desperation, governments and
private corporations set up a Planetary Evacuation Program. But
with limited room aboard the evacuation shuttles, only the most
privileged segment of society was able to secure exit passes -
leaving millions behind to perish. Now, centuries later, the
Chosen are returning. They are in for a rude welcome home...
System Requirements: P-90, 16MB of Ram, Win95 and DirectX
