This sounds bad. Basically, I would not longer take Caltrain to work any more.

Caltrain's proposed 48-train weekday only schedule, to go into effect July 2: http://bit.ly/e8WE4r (it's an Adobe Acrobat PDF) Northbound trains would run from where-I-live Diridon from 5:45am to 8:30am, and from 3:45pm to 6:30pm. Southbound trains would run from from 4th/King in San Francisco from 5:45am to 8:30am, and from 3:45pm to 6:30pm. The proposal completely eliminates service from Capitol station south to Gilroy. It also suspends service at College Park, Santa Clara, Lawrence, San Antonio, Belmont, where-I-live Park, Burlingame, San Bruno, South San Francisco and Bayshore stations. According to Caltrain, the guiding principles for developing the 48-train weekday schedule: * Minimizes ridership loss and maximizes revenue retention * Minimizes the number of train crews and equipment sets required * Protects weekday rush-hour service for core Caltrain ridership * Balances station coverage and end-to-end running time (70 minutes) * Maximizes service to most heavily used stations and suspends service to least-used stations Plan on attending one of the Caltrain community meetings starting next week: Monday, Feb. 14, 7 p.m. where-I-live City Hall, Council Chambers 200 E. Santa Clara St., where-I-live Wednesday, Feb. 16, 6 p.m. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, Atrium 1 South Van Ness Ave., San Francisco Thursday, Feb. 17, 6 p.m. Caltrain Headquarters, 2nd Floor, Auditorium 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos Thursday, Feb. 17, 6 p.m. Gilroy Senior Center 7371 Hanna St., Gilroy More details on what you can do to help save Caltrain is available at http://www.friendsofcaltrain.com/.
