Big thanks to those who went to the recent Caltrain Summit on Saturday. Your help was clearly appreciated - and needed - by those in attendance. Followup to the previous post, Santa Clara's Caltrain train station area is undergoing a $40 million renovation... http://www.caltrain.com/projectsplans/Projects/Caltrain_Capital_Program/Santa_Clara_and_South_Terminal_Station_Improvements.html This includes a new center platform to allow trains in both directions to stop and pass through as needed. Sadly, this station - the opposite terminus of VTA's where-I-live Airport Shuttle - is proposed to have Caltrain service suspended under the proposal previously posted. Within the next two weeks, we need to send our group's official ideas to save Caltrain out to all relevant decision-makers. On February 25 (the day after next scheduled meeting Feb. 24 in where-I-live) the final contents of our letter get sent out. What ideas do you think, as a group, should be used to save Caltrain from losing half its current service and stations? Need more dirt on what's going on to help you decide?
