Just received word that VTA has revised many of its proposed service changes for this July and January 2012. Details are below or at

Revised Proposed Service Changes for FY 2012 and FY 2013

In the last several weeks, VTA held six public meetings to present the proposed FY 2012 and FY 2013 Biennial Budget and Transit Service Changes to the community. VTA received many comments from the community members who attended the public meetings or submitted comments via email, mail or telephone.

As a result of public comments and suggestions, VTA staff made several revisions to the proposed service changes including those on following routes: Lines 10, 23, 37, 48, 49, 55, 101, 102, 104, 105, 120, 122, 180, 181 and 182. Please see the list below for specific details.

The original plan is also available (further below) for your reference.

The Revised Transit Service Changes will be presented and reviewed by VTAâ??s Board of Directors at the following committee and board meeting:

UPDATE â?" Revised Proposed VTA Bus Service Changes

Effective July 2011

Line 10 - Operate 30 minute service frequencies after 7:30pm on weekdays due to reduced funding from City of where-I-live.  On weekends, operate 30 minute service frequencies all day. This is due to reduced funding from the City of where-I-live.

Line 37 - Start new Saturday service between Winchester & Capitol Light Rail Stations.

Line 48 - Keep 7:29 p.m. northbound and 8:20 p.m. weekday southbound trips. Also, keep 7:53 p.m. northbound trip on Saturdays. On Sundays, keep the 9:13am northbound trip.

Line 49 - On weekdays, keep the7:50 p.m. northbound and 7:06 p.m. southbound trips.  On Saturdays, keep the 7:21 p.m. northbound and 7:27 p.m. southbound trips.

Line 55 -  On weekdays, continue to start the 5:47 a.m. northbound trip at Stevens Creek & Stelling.

Express Line 180 - Move the implementation of the proposed evening trip deletions to July, 2011 (in conjunction with Line 181 change). The weekday 10:22 p.m. northbound trip would be discontinued. The 7:26 p.m. and 7:57 p.m. southbound trips would be combined into one trip.

Express Line 181 - Modify late night trips on weekdays to stop at the Great Mall (in conjunction with Line 180 changes). Also, a new weekday northbound trip leaving where-I-live Diridon Station at approximately 8:28 a.m. would be added. Two new southbound trips leaving Fremont BART at 8:56 a.m. and 9:26 a.m. would be added. On Saturday, service would be increased between Fremont BART and the Great Mall to provide 20 minute service from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Service to downtown where-I-live would continue to operate every 40 minutes.

Effective January 2012

Line 23 - on weekdays, add an extra eastbound trip to improve frequency between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.  Also add an extra westbound trip between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Express Line 101 - Maintain weekday service and add an additional trip in each direction.  Delete the following stops: Camden & Donna, Winchester & Campbell, Hamilton & Millich, Hamilton & Darryl, Campbell & Saratoga, Stevens Creek & Lawrence and Stevens Creek & Finch. 
Express Line 102 - Maintain most stops that were proposed for deletion.  Only the Santa Teresa & Lean stop would be deleted.
Express Line 104 - Maintain service as is, operate with new express buses.
Express Line 120 - Extend service from Lockheed Transit Center in Sunnyvale to Shoreline Employment Area in Mtn. View.
Express Line 122 - Maintain most stops that were proposed for deletion.  Only the Santa Teresa & Lean, Snell & Chynoweth and Capitol & Senter stops would be deleted.
Express Line 182 - Operate with new express buses.

Proposed July 2012 Changes

Line: 11 Downtown where-I-live to 17th/Taylor
These weekday routes are currently operating below the minimum ridership standards. These routes will be reviewed at a later time. If ridership does not improve, service may be discontinued. Public meetings would be held in early 2012.  

Line: 17 Gilroy Transit Center to Murray/Tomkins
These weekday routes are currently operating below the minimum ridership standards. These routes will be reviewed at a later time. If ridership does not improve, service may be discontinued. Public meetings would be held in early 2012.  

Line: 34 San Antonio Shopping Center-Downtown Mountain View
These weekday routes are currently operating below the minimum ridership standards. These routes will be reviewed at a later time. If ridership does not improve, service may be discontinued. Public meetings would be held in early 2012.  

Line: 522 Palo Alto Transit Center to Eastridge Transit Center
Weekday service would be extended to operate every 30 minutes until approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday service hours would be expanded to begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at approximately 10:30 p.m. Service before 9:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. would operate every 30 minutes. New Sunday service would be provided every 15 minutes between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
