It’s time for another MST3k party! This one will be at 7pm on Saturday, June 4th, once again at the Hopkins House in North , just a short walk from the BART station.
This time we’ll be showing classic Episode #213 “Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster” – a terrific cheesefest in its own right, because not only do you get Godzilla and Ebirah (the Sea Monster), but Mothra as well. That’s right! Three monsters, yes, three, in one silly Godzilla film. And oh the lush locales, and the toy boats, and the rock lobster music! Truly a guilty pleasure.
What’s extra special about this showing is that, as good as this episode is, it’s never been available on DVD or video, nor can it be seen through live streaming on Netflix. This is because the MST3k crew were never able to get the rights sorted out for their Godzilla movie eps.
We’ll do this as a makeshift potluck like the other evenings, so if anyone wants to bring munchies or dishes they can, but if you can’t bring anything, no problem at all – just show up for the show :-)
We’ll play a comic short or two before the main feature, giving us plenty of time to mix and mingle with people, and munch on goodies :-) And if I can dig up some prizes, we’ll do a trivia contest as well.
The address is 1491 Hopkins Street in North , where Sacramento & Hopkins meet, and is convenient to public transportation, being only a 10-min walk from the North Berkeley BART station. Hope to see you there!
