They have weird hours because they're all volunteer. Also, JAMSJ (Japanese American Museum) is next door and also have weird hours. It would be nice if the JACL joined us or met us but the Japanese American's have not been known for their "demonstrative" qualities. I'll see if the gang at Roy's Coffee are interested (or can at least spread the word). The owner and I go back and she's always known me for the non-conformist I've always been in the community. JACL National Chapter is really upset over this but it's not a straight line in that they credit Sen. Inouye of Hawaii (an internee and a WWII veteran) with the crafting the Non-Detention Act in 1971even though he supported S. 1867 along with the other Hawaii Senator Akaka who is also Japanese. Go figure. I had a thought for the Coffin to use black foam boards (end to end for length) and write either "Bill of Rights, US Constitution or Habeas Corpus" on the side in white letters. Also on white foam boards made like tombstones - RIP of the same but there's not much time. We need either access to caskets or someone who can fabricate them out of cardboard or something.
