I am very doubtful that the last-mile internet speed would matter at all. It's likely that the routes from sonic.net to whereever the packets are going is the problem, i.e., it may be a problem on the server end. Sometimes, when things are slow, you need to be patient when, for example, you highlight something or type in something. Also, http://speedtest.sonic.net is going to be the definitive answer to the last-mile internet speed. If you use "ping", you could find out the network latency between sonic.net and the server.
