Interesting. Is there a way that you could leave the dialog box up,
essentially pausing it 'til you're ready to use it again?
Another idea: what if you go to the Start Menu in the Windows VM? Can you
select "Sleep" from the right triangle to the right of "Shutdown"? Maybe
that would suspend it.
