One thing I didn't tell you on the phone is that a transformer a few blocks away exploded some months ago. Unlike our neighbors, we managed not to lose electricity. But, I'm wondering if that had anything to do with it. Anyway, I just read online about polarity and phonographs, and I don't think this is the problem we're experiencing. The "wow" on the turntable is rather dramatic -- the phase is out by about 0.5 seconds or so. It sounds as if the record is warped. It's unlistenable. I'm sad that we'd have to get a new record player to fix this problem given that it works fine at the shop and, before 5 months ago, it had been working fine for years. > From: "Apple" <http://www.juno.com/~w1few> > Date: Mon, 29 Jun 2020 06:11:14 GMT > > It appears the electric company reversed the black and white wires for some > reason > they sell polarity checkers at Radio Shack and other electronic surplus stores. > A new record player like Chrises should solve the problem. > D
