record player fluctuations/wow and power quality

I'm wondering if the problem that we are experiencing with the record
player is due to the transformer exploding a few months ago.

I mean, unless our refrigerator has suddenly started breaking badly, and
because we haven't changed anything, I don't see how anything we've done
could've affected this problem.
