I wonder what Thomas Piketty thinks about his thesis?  I think Piketty
doesn't try to explain why there has been a continuing widening income
gap, in the sense that Piketty uses the traditional Marxist materialist
approach to these things.  This Peter Turchin person seems to think that
it is the expanding population (labor oversupply) and repression of that
population (elite overproduction) which is creating the inequality.

Pretty interesting.  I wonder how far this framework can be pushed?

In any case, his prediction is a period of increased violence, similar to
what Colombia experienced during its worst decades.
