SUSTAINABILITY SUCCESSES
Congratulations! Your home is already on track to being efficient;
here's a few things we noticed:

Your water heater is set at the middle setting to prevent dangerous scalds
and save you up to $400 annually on water heating costs.

Both your fridge and freezer temperature dials are set in the middle,
striking a good balance between keeping food safe and saving energy.

You’re using a spray hose nozzle on your hose, which reduces
the water flow rate and lets you easily control water use.

SUSTAINABILITY TIPS
Beyond the efficiencies we see in your house, here are some
additional things you can do to reduce your environmental footprint.

The windows in your bedroom(s), bathroom(s), kitchen and living room were
loose or the caulk was in poor condition, making them drafty. Sealing
cracks, gaps, leaks and adding insulation can save, on average, 15% on
home heating and cooling costs. Air sealing can also increase indoor air
quality by reducing the concentration of dust, pollen, and pollutants in
your home. Our partner, BayREN, offers rebates for homeowners
looking to seal their homes. Please see the Resources, Rebates, and

Your dryer and washing machine isn’t/aren’t Energy
Star-certified.  By replacing all of your old
non-efficient appliances with Energy Star-certified
models, you can save up to $450 annually on your energy bills. We know
that new appliances can be expensive.  Please see the Resources, Rebates,
and Recycling section for information on appliance rebates.

We checked under your sinks, and there was open space around the plumbing
in your bathroom(s) and kitchen. Filling in these holes with expanding
foam or caulk, available cheaply at any hardware store, is an easy
efficiency upgrade.
