American job happiness



Another survey, the CNBC|SurveyMonkey Workplace Happiness Index, provides a more nuanced view. While it found a high level of general satisfaction, it revealed that only 9% of workers gave their jobs top marks across five key measures of happiness (pay, advancement, value, autonomy, and meaningfulness), indicating that deep "happiness" may be less widespread than general satisfaction. Most people are just optimistic, but when they dig deep, many people realize that they are unsatisfied with their jobs.
