Oh, and to correct one thing you said: I do not think he was arguing that
any given consumer would pay less for electricity. One minor advantage
would be that the customer would pay only the amount that they consumed
rather than (as I get my PG&E bills right now) paying by tiers of usage,
but that wasn't the core of his argument.
The only real benefit of this system, as I see it, would be more security
so that if the power company cannot deliver power to you (lack of
available power, terrorist attack, etc.), you will have another outlet.
