There is usually a "flash" button which allows you to switch between calls, but the control of busy signals, call waiting, or messaging is done through your telephone service provider. For us, our telephone provider has an online control panel which allows us to change this behavior. (Like you, I do not like call waiting and I set it up so that, while on an existing call, all incoming calls go to voicemail. Getting a busy signal would also be an option.) You may have access to such a control panel. Or, you may need to call your telephone provider to ask them to change the configuration. Or, like Noelle said, some fancier modern phones may have this functionality, but I wouldn't know about that. > From: "Gail" <http://www.cox.net/~g3> > Date: Thu, 21 Mar 2024 22:47:05 -0700 > Hi Robert, > That's interesting as Noelle recently told me on the phone that it was not > the service such as COX who provides the ability for a busy signal or > message or call waiting (which I don't like re: getting a beep that someone > is trying to reach me while I'm talking to someone else as I would never > interrupt my phone conversation to answer someone else's call).
