Easter and Halloween are not federal (national) holidays.
I guess Christmas wasn't officially a federal holiday until 1870.
According to Brave Leo, "This move was largely driven by a desire to
foster national unity following the Civil War and to standardize time off
for federal workers, eventually setting a precedent for nationwide
adoption."
I guess May 1 was out of the question 😏.
